Your First eFoil Lesson
What to expect, what to bring, and how to fly above the water on day one.
Stepping onto an eFoil for the first time feels a little like learning to fly. There's no wind to read, no waves to chase, no engine noise — just a quiet board, a handheld remote, and the open water in front of you. If you've booked your first lesson and you're wondering what actually happens out there, here's the full picture so you can show up relaxed and ready to glide.

1. Land-Based Instruction (5–10 minutes)
Before you touch the water, your instructor walks you through the gear: how the board and hydrofoil work, how the handheld throttle controls your speed, and the simple safety basics. You'll learn how to hold the remote, how to fall safely, and what to expect as the board starts to lift. It's quick, friendly, and designed so nothing on the water comes as a surprise.

2. Starting Low and Stable
Your first minutes on the water are spent lying or kneeling on the board, easing into the throttle and getting a feel for how it responds. The foil stays low and the board glides flat and smooth, so you build confidence with the controls before you ever try to stand.

3. Standing Up (Your First “Pop Up”)
Once the throttle feels natural, you'll work up to a low, stable kneel and then your first pop up to standing. With the board moving smoothly underneath you, finding your feet is far easier than most people expect — and your instructor is right there coaching every move.

How Long Does It Take to Learn?
Most first-timers are up and flying within their very first session. eFoiling has a famously short learning curve compared to surfing or kiteboarding — because the motor does the work of generating speed, you can focus entirely on balance. By the end of a single lesson, the majority of riders have felt the board lift off and held a glide.
Is eFoiling Hard?
It's easier than it looks. There are no waves to catch and no wind to time, so you're not fighting the conditions. The board is stable at low speed, the controls are intuitive, and your instructor adjusts the pace to match your comfort. If you can ride a bike, you can almost certainly learn to eFoil.
What Should You Bring to Your Lesson?
Keep it simple:
- A swimsuit or board shorts you're comfortable getting wet in
- A towel and a change of clothes
- Reef-safe sunscreen and sunglasses with a strap
- A water bottle to stay hydrated
We provide the board, the foil, the safety gear, and everything else you need. Just show up ready to get on the water.
What Makes eFoiling So Unique?
There's nothing quite like it. The hydrofoil lifts you completely clear of the surface, so there's no slapping, no drag, no noise — just smooth, silent flight. It's the closest thing to flying you can do on the water, and it works on calm lakes, bays, and open ocean alike. No waves required.
